A Cultural Historical Journey to Canada's Baffin Island - with a Focus on Contact and Conflict
This English-language presentation wants to fly participants in on Canada's Baffin Island, situated in the Grand North, and inhabited chiefly by Inuit. In a first part, present-day Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut federal territory is represented by images; while in a second part, the island's long cultural history is adumbrated with a focus on contact and conflict between the aboriginal Inuit and European explorers. At the end of the presentation, a Q & A session will be held. Foreign students welcome!
